L'itinéraire
Clausen
Clausen, a neighborhood that lies in the valley of the city, just like the Grund and Pfaffental. There were several freshwater springs here which enabled the construction of breweries. Today, Clausen represents Luxembourg’s nightlife district. It’s where locals go out for a casual drink or to have a dance.
Grund
The picturesque narrow streets, the river, but also the easy access via the elevator to the Plateau du Saint-Esprit and its underground parking contribute to the popularity of the Grund district among locals and tourists.
Petruss Valley
The Petruss brook rises from several sources about 12 km southwest of Luxembourg. In the district Grund, the Petruss flows into the Alzette river. The valley was a natural fortification for the city. After the demolition of the fortress, the government and later the city administration planned to convert the fortifications into a park belt. The well-known French landscape designer Edouard André (1833-1894) was commissioned with the planning. André wanted to connect the Petruss Valley via a tunnel with today’s Edmond Klein park and to plant orchards in the Petruss Valley. André’s plan failed. The Petruss Valley became a park, however not according to André’s plans.
